Newborns & Children
Gentle, age-appropriate chiropractic care from birth through the tween years — safe techniques designed for developing bodies at every stage.
Chiropractic care for newborns and children at Zock Family Chiropractic uses gentle, fingertip pressure — nothing like adult adjustments. Techniques are always age-appropriate, individualized to the child’s size and condition, and designed to support healthy development without discomfort. Dr. Zock has been treating children of all ages since 2012.

NEWBORN CHIROPRACTIC CARE
Gentle care from day one
It is natural for parents to be cautious about chiropractic care for newborns. Most people assume adjustments involve pressure, cracking, or forceful manipulation. For infants, none of that is true. Newborn chiropractic care uses fingertip pressure — only as much as you would use to test the ripeness of a tomato. Most babies sleep through their adjustment.
The birth process, even when uncomplicated, places significant stress on a newborn’s spine and nervous system. Gentle chiropractic evaluation and treatment in the first weeks of life can address issues that arise from that stress before they become patterns.
WHAT PARENTS ASK
Chiropractic care that is gentle by design
The most common concern parents bring to the first visit is whether chiropractic care is safe for their child. The answer depends entirely on the techniques used and the provider’s experience with pediatric patients. At Zock Family Chiropractic, pediatric techniques are specifically chosen for developing bodies.
Chiropractic care for children is not a replacement for pediatric medical care. Dr. Zock works alongside your child’s pediatrician and will refer out when a condition requires medical evaluation or treatment.
- Newborn adjustments use fingertip pressure only — no cracking or manipulation
- Techniques are always selected based on the child’s age, size, and condition
- Most children find adjustments relaxing — many fall asleep during treatment
- Parents are present for all pediatric appointments
- Dr. Zock has been treating children of all ages since 2012

CHILDREN & TWEENS
Growing bodies need different care
Children are not small adults. Their spines are still developing, their activity levels are high, and the demands placed on their bodies — from sports, growth spurts, and screen time — create different injury and alignment patterns than those seen in adult patients.
For school-age children
Children as young as two are using smartphones, tablets, and e-readers for extended periods. The posture required — head down, neck flexed forward — creates cumulative stress on the cervical spine that compounds over years. Chiropractic care addresses the structural effects of this posture before they become permanent patterns. Backpack weight, playground injuries, and sports participation add additional load on developing spines.
Text neck and posture
Text neck is the term for neck pain and postural damage caused by looking down at screens for extended periods. Excessive tension builds in the deep neck muscles, causing both acute and chronic neck pain. Chronic headaches have also been linked to this condition. Chiropractic care reduces the tension, corrects the alignment, and — when combined with posture guidance — helps prevent recurrence.
Sports and activity injuries
Young athletes are particularly prone to overuse injuries and growth-related conditions. Dr. Zock and Dr. Lauren are familiar with the injury patterns common in youth sports and treat children with age-appropriate techniques. Parents are always included in the conversation about care.
