WHAT WE TREAT

Common athlete injuries we address

Athletes in Cranberry Township — from high school sports to adult recreational leagues — put different demands on their bodies than the general population. Repetitive loading, acute trauma, and performance expectations create injury patterns that benefit from a provider who understands both the structural and functional side of recovery.

At Zock Family Chiropractic, Dr. Zock and Dr. Lauren treat athletes at every stage — acute injury, recovery, and maintenance care for those looking to stay performing at their best.

Sprains & Strains

Ankle, knee, shoulder, and wrist injuries from contact, overuse, or acute trauma.

Back & Spine

Lower back pain, disc-related pain, and spinal joint dysfunction from athletic loading.

Overuse Injuries

Tendinitis, bursitis, and repetitive stress conditions from training volume or technique.

Shoulder & Rotator Cuff

Throwing athletes, swimmers, and overhead sport injuries.

Foot & Heel Pain

Plantar fasciitis and heel conditions common in running and court sports.

Neck & Concussion Recovery

Cervical spine care and structural support during post-concussion recovery for contact sport athletes.

OUR APPROACH

Treatment built around your sport

Athletes have different recovery expectations than the general patient population. You need to know when you can return to practice, how to manage training load during recovery, and whether your injury is likely to respond to conservative care or needs further evaluation. Dr. Zock and Dr. Lauren address all of those questions at your first visit.

For student athletes

Dr. Zock and Dr. Lauren are familiar with the injury patterns in high school and youth sports — growth-related overuse conditions, acute trauma from contact sports, and the pressure of in-season recovery timelines. Treatment is age-appropriate and individualized. Parents are included in the conversation.

For adult athletes

Adult recreational athletes often deal with injuries that accumulate over years of training. Recovery takes longer, tissues heal differently, and the goal is often managing an ongoing condition rather than resolving an acute injury. Dr. Zock and Dr. Lauren build care plans that fit around your training schedule, not the other way around.

Massage therapy as part of recovery

Therapeutic massage is available at Zock Family Chiropractic as an integrated recovery tool. Myofascial release and trigger point therapy reduce muscle tension and support chiropractic adjustment. For athletes managing chronic tension or soft tissue restrictions, massage can be scheduled alongside or between chiropractic visits.

WHAT ATHLETES PRESENT WITH

Injuries we treat in athletes

Strains

Ankle sprains, hamstring strains, and ligament injuries from contact, cutting, and overuse — soft tissue work and adjustment restore joint mechanics and reduce compensation patterns

Low Back & SI Joint Pain

Common in runners, lifters, and rotational-sport athletes. Treatment addresses spinal joint dysfunction and the muscular imbalances that drive recurrence.

Shoulder & Rotator Cuff Issues

Throwing athletes, swimmers, and overhead-sport players. Adjustment, soft tissue work, and laser therapy when clinically appropriate support recovery without sidelining you longer than necessary.

Knee & Hip Pain

IT band syndrome, patellar tracking issues, and hip impingement from running, cycling, and field sports — treated by addressing the joint above and below, not just the painful site.

Overuse & Repetitive Stress

Tendinopathies, shin splints, and chronic tightness from training volume — laser therapy and soft tissue work reduce inflammation and support tissue healing between sessions.

Yes. Laser therapy is available at Zock Family Chiropractic as a separate purchasable service and is particularly effective for soft tissue sports injuries — sprains, strains, tendinitis, and inflammation that is slow to resolve. It can be performed alongside a chiropractic adjustment in the same visit. Dr. Zock or Dr. Lauren will recommend it when clinically appropriate.

Yes. Zock Family Chiropractic treats student athletes of all ages and sports.
